Learning From Mistakes
(Greg, Liz and Jeff are drinking tea after to talk dinner at the Clark's. Mia is talking to Mandy on the phone. Mandy is telling Mia about the article she wrote for the school paper. )
Mia: Wow, Mandy. So what did your advisor say about the article?
Mandy: Well, he didn't even read the article until it came out in the paper. Then he wasn't very happy that I was so honest.
Mia: Hmm. Why didn't he read it sooner?
Mandy: Well, he really trusts Caitlin, the editor.
Mia: So was your article the truth?
Mandy: Yes! (sighs) But the things I wrote about Trina weren't very kind.
Mia: So what are you going to do?
Mandy: (thinks) Well, I guess I need to apologize to Trina.
Mia: Good idea.
Mandy: Yeah. I really feel bad now about the things I wrote. Even if it was the truth.
Mia: I understand. Hey, will you write the article about the play itself?
Mandy: Maybe. I’ll ask Caitlin.
Mia: You never know, Trina might do a good job.
Mandy: True. Then maybe I can make up for what I wrote this time.
Mia: Good thinking. (They keep talking.)
(A few minutes later, Mia hangs up the phone. She joins Jeff, Greg and Liz at the table.)
Mia: Sorry about that, everyone. Mandy really needed to talk.
Liz: Is she OK?
Mia: Yes. She wrote an article about someone that wasn’t very nice. Now she knows that was a mistake.
Greg: Well, that sounds like a good lesson for her to learn.
Jeff: We all make mistakes. I’m glad Mandy learned from hers.
Q:
1. Have you ever made a mistake? Tell about it.
2. Did Mandy learn a lesson???
3. What do you learn from this article???
