Cindy meets her language exchange partner, Tim, for a picnic in the park . Tim : Hi Cindy, What's new ? Cindy : Nothing . I've had these clothes for years . Tim : That's not what I mean . It's just a way to greet someone that you haven't seen for a while . Cindy : Oh ! So how do I answer ? Tim : You tell me what you have been doing since the last time we saw each other . Why don't you ask me ? Cindy : Okay . What’s new ? Tim : Not much . I've just been working and syudying Chinese . Cindy : That's great . Do you have a Chinese name ? Tim : Shi ! Wo de ming zi shi Bai Che . Cindy : Umm, “bai che” isn't a name . Tim : It isn't ? Then, what does it mean ? Cindy : It means “Idiot” . Tim : Well, that's why my girlfriend call me . Cindy : I'm sure she is just being funny . Lots of girls say that . Tim : Umm… She is usually smilling when she say it . Tim : She also says I'm “Hen fan nei, bai che . “ So, what does that mean . Cindy : That's right . If, means “annoying idiot . “Tim : But all I was doing was burning may garbage outside . Cindy : Why were you doing that ? Tim : I see everyone doing it . That's what the red metal buckets are for, right . Cindy : Those are burning money ! Bai che ! Tim : Bai che ! I burn garbage, but other people burn money . What am I the “bai che” ? Cindy : Not realy money . Thay're buring ghost money .
